Then it struck.
Even the Spanish Weather office gave 90% possibility of rain for Monday. Pete insisted no problema!!
Monday 10:30. Franz, owner of the Mini-Golf, phoned Pete to say there were hail stones and generally pissing down. What to do? "Get the food ready" said Pete "It'll be OK". Later Pete went into Magnums to pick up the prizes and stuff. Supposing the rain doesn't stop? Plan 'B' had always been to have the BBQ at Magnums but in 17 years its never been necessary. Now it looked necessary. How are we going to get 40 people in here with all the stacked tables and the place doesn't get cleaned until Tuesday?
So over to Dee's for coffee, dodging the hail stones.
14:00 -Pete & Chris arrive at the Mini Golf. The rain had stopped. 14:10 -people start arriving. 15:00 -Thirty-five people start the match. Only two no-shows !!
Vodka enhanced Eve showed a promising 1st nine, as did a number of others spurred on by their favourite tipple. No particular team looked significantly ahead as we all took succour during the 1st nine break.
Well the rain held off and eventually each team finished and cards were handed in.
Then the sun came out !!
Results were clear except we needed an all Scottish play-off for the Men's Champion. Ian Robertson 41 (Gross 47) and John McVicar 41 (48) tied. Ian threw it with a three -John took the Trophy. Ellen shot a 46 (48) and Janet Lever, despite all the pressure came in with a 43 (47) to take the Ladies Trophy.
In the Ones department, Dave 'B' stacked up a three and enabled his team -Dave, Steve Jones (of Kym fame), Louise and the retired Joan Latimer to take the team money with a 35.
Prizes given and money handed out all participants sat down to a fine BBQ prepared by Franz, Martine and crew.
In the end, as usual, A GOOD DAY WAS HAD BY ALL!!!
